The yearly chalk festival started out as a fund raising activity for the Joy Foundation, in order to support the classes, mic night and other activities offered throughout the year. Now, the chalk festival has become an important city tradition that everyone looks forward.
The art produced each year is amazing and the attendance grows exponentially every year. We encourage youth and adults alike to participate.
Mic Night provides a safe and friendly environment for youth with a desire to share their musical talents. This has given many a unique opportunity to practice performing in front of a live audience who's only concern is to encourage them to try.
We have seen amazing growth in many of the youth that have participated in the Mic Night over the years. Watching them develop their talent, while overcoming fears and anxiety, has been a real treat.
